June Meeting: How Dads Collect: The Personal Property Market Today
The ASA Northern New Jersey June Chapter meeting will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at 6:00 pm at LuNello, 182 Stevens Ave, Cedar Grove, NJ 07009 (973-837-1660). The Executive Meeting is scheduled for 6:00 pm followed by Networking at 6:30 pm. The featured speakers will be Drew and Lynn Magnusson, principals of The Magnusson Group in Morristown, NJ who, in a Father’s Day tribute, will present “How Dad’s Collect: The Personal Property Market Today.”
The Magnussons have been engaged in art, antiques and the appraisal field for over 20 years.
Drew is the firm’s research analyst for fine and decorative arts objects. Working with top auction specialists, he can be relied on to know the background and sales history for artists and makers in different marketplaces. He is an expert at consigning to private dealers for his clients and recently launched an online store.
Lynn is accredited by the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) and the Appraisers Association of America (AAA) in Antiques & Decorative Art, and Residential Contents. She writes on auctions, connoisseurship, collectibles, personal property, appraisal regulations, and estate planning in The Magnusson Group’s bi-monthly blog and was recently quoted in Design NJ’s article: “Not Just Any Old Thing” (August/September 2017).
The Magnussons say “Men have traditionally been collectors of watches, boats, cars, coins, and taxidermy among other items. The fickle and volatile market for tangibles makes it challenging. We’ll make it interesting and fun for you!”
You won’t want to miss this informative and lively presentation. The program qualifies for two (2) hours of ASA Continuing Education Credit.
Dinner is $40 per person, which includes appetizer, dinner, dessert, and hot or cold beverage. Cash bar. Please RSVP to Chapter VP Michael Lavelle no later than Tuesday, June 12, 2018. Please bring a check payable to ASA NNJ Chapter 73 to the Meeting or email Michael Lavelle to pay by credit card.
